i found this oddly comforting and candid note amongst my long passed away grandfather’s belongings. i have no idea why he wrote this yet i can easily relate to the sentiment. i miss him, and my grandmothers so much. if you are fortunate enough to still have your grandparents give them a big hug.

Oh, he would loved to have them meet Sophie and Walker! Love you Mom.
I miss him every day, too.
There are so many questions I would like to ask him and so much I would love to share with him, especially about what great grandkids he has. Nana

in a RV, with an AC on strike…brilliant! really, we had a blast. we started in Vegas (106 in the shade) and high tailed it to Zion National Park where it was a reasonable 95. Then, on to Bryce, Escalante, and Capitol Reef which were, thankfully, at higher elevation. If you haven’t already, visit utah….

…before it gets real busy. soph and I took off for a hike in shenandoah national park this weekend. the weather was perfect. the riprap loop has to be one of my favorite loop hikes in the snp. it has some stellar camp spots along cold spring hollow. this was sophie’s first taste of backcountry…

Oh I love Asheville – beautiful city, love the spaces … though it was where Martin and I were yelled at while on a street corner for being “f-ing hippies).

if you ever find yourself in the asheville area and want to have a blast, look up huck finn adventures. they took us on a great 9 mile stretch of the broad. the spring rains meant that it would be a quick trip. we rolled through some burly class 3′s and 4′s. yummy!
