photo class
look out schwartz, move over theuer, my workshop is on fire! i’m trying to get the kids to “see” light and framing. sans cameras. we are, way way, low budget here. i just wanted to get them to start looking around at how beautiful everything is.

- so cool.... this is why I love you so much Echard.... Dave
- Now this is a class worth taking... :) Keith
- Why are all these photographers looking at your site??? I think you should hand these frames out to your wedding guests. Could be some awesome shots!!! Sam
- Good question Sam. Why, I would never look at another photographers site. I mean, it's just wrong. Shame on everyone. BTW, the boy on the left looks like a Nikon shooter. Scott
- dave: back atcha my friend keith: you are way too old for this class. sam: as a photo teacher, i'm open to ideas. i'm kinda running out of them. scott: look out - i'm training a future crop of wedding photographers. many thanks for stopping by. i love the feedback! eck
- I wish I had been there!!! So cute, and a great idea.... : )

turn a bathroom into a camera obscura
alright, it was the only room with a good view and one window. this was a project we did at my daughter’s school. their awesome art teacher, jill, asked me to come in and do some photography lessons. well, it’s safe to say, i know a few things about my craft. but, i’m not very organized and jill really comes through in that department. i’ve got a few ideas floating around but, then what?! below is a crude-ish example of what we did last week. i covered the bathroom window with light tight black plastic, cut out a square in the middle and taped a card board cut out with a few different size round holes-covering all but one. this is a cool way to demonstrate what happens when light goes through that tiny hole in your camera lens. first everyone’s eyes adjust to the darkness and then..ooooooo…the image of what’s outside appears on the walls of our room. totally cool! another thing is the image is upside down and backwards. reason: light travels in a straight line. to get through that little aperture, the light from the sky travels has to travel down to get in, and ends up on the bottom of the room. the light from the ground heads up to make it in the hole and ends up on the top of the wall. and so on, etc. here are a couple of 3 second snaps from the what it looked like. i went ahead and flipped the one image. bonus points if you can guess where i took this from.

- is that the cavalier hotel? i want pictures like abby-jean and mike! those are so cool.
- yes, millie, that's right. now what bathroom do you think might have a view of said hotel? thanks about the photobooth shots. let's do a shoot with you and mike down the road. echard
- That's the biggest pin hole camera I've ever seen. Really cool stuff, buddy.
