former pro surfer, wes lane, puts on the best surf camp around these parts.  sophie loved it!  it was such a blast to see her out there riding those waves for the past three days.

i owe a great deal of gratitude to my first mentor, in the wedding photogrpahy business, to andrew carney.  he took me under his wing ten years ago when all I had was a bronica kit and a gym bag.  andrew was one of the leading wedding photographers in hampton roads at the time.  he’s since transitioned into super high end portraiture and left the wedding biz.  he really instilled in me to get it  right in the camera.  this being before words like workflow, photoshop, jpeg etc were in our daily lexicon.  it was polaroid, blad, carding negaitves, contact sheets, slide proofs….what will it be in ten more years!  below is a portrait i took of him with my trusty calumet 8×10 camera(that, sad to say, is boxed up).  ironically, i bet andrew doesn’t even have a computer to see this post.  well, thanks anyway.

it’s been weddings, weddings, weddings, and more weddings lately. so, I just wanted to insert a little break and put my sweet angel up here. i love you sophie!
